About Material Horizon

About Material Horizon

Material Horizon is an independent publication covering critical raw materials, lithium extraction chemistry, and battery supply chain science, written by a researcher working at the frontier of these topics.

I am a chemist and a chemical engineer completing a doctorate in Chemistry in Germany. My doctoral research focuses on lithium extraction from unconventional spodumene ores using hydrometallurgical and supercritical water processing routes, work that sits directly at the intersection of materials science, process chemistry, and Europe's critical minerals challenge.

Before my doctoral research, I worked across multiple roles in the chemical industry, as a chemical engineer, plant manager, business optimization expert, researcher, and laboratory manager in the field of semiconductors. That combination of industrial experience and academic research gives me a perspective on critical minerals that goes beyond the laboratory.

Why Material Horizon exists

Critical materials play a crucial role in many questions in this world. It is essential to build a sustainable and local technology in the EU to be competitive. It is also essential to help people get the real information in this field, to help solve problems, to build technologies, and eventually to help you grow in this critical field.

Material Horizon exists to offer something different: serious, technically grounded analysis of the materials the world increasingly depends on, written with the clarity that comes from actually working with them.

What you will find here

Deep technical analysis of lithium extraction and processing chemistry. Clear explanations of complex supply chain dynamics. An honest European perspective on critical raw materials strategy, but also a global situation related to this topic. And occasional opinion on where the science is settled, and where it is not.

Research and publications

Material Horizon also highlights selected scientific publications, technical reports, and research insights relevant to critical raw materials, lithium extraction, and sustainable processing.

Consulting and collaboration

I am available for consulting engagements in critical raw materials, lithium extraction process chemistry, and technical due diligence. I am open to selected consulting and collaboration opportunities in lithium extraction, critical raw materials, process chemistry, and technical due diligence.
